Job Description

Accounting Manager | Tampa Bay Area| Hybrid| Compensation up to $130,000 plus a 15% bonus target This is a rare, high-visibility opportunity to join a PE-backed, growth-oriented organization as a hands-on accounting leader with a clearly defined path to Controller in the future. You will report directly to the CFO and take on meaningful ownership across month-end close, financial reporting, cash management, M&A integration, and a live ERP implementation, making this far from a cookie-cutter accounting role. The company is actively acquiring businesses and building out its financial infrastructure, meaning the right person will be involved in transformational work from day one rather than stepping into a fully established, static function. This is explicitly a doer role — the expectation is that you execute, not just review, and that you bring the ambition and drive to grow alongside the business as it scales. You will gain direct exposure to private equity reporting and ownership communication at a level that is genuinely uncommon for this title, giving you a platform to develop rapidly. If you are a public accounting-trained professional with at least five years of experience, strong close fundamentals, and a high ceiling, this is an exceptional place to build toward the next level of your career. Key Responsibilities Support integration of acquired businesses into existing accounting infrastructure and collaborate on M&A-related financial activities. Manage cash disbursements, including weekly vendor payment runs executed through banking and AP platforms, as well as cash application and accounts receivable reconciliations. Contribute to a live ERP implementation and drive ongoing system improvements post go-live; evaluate accounting systems and troubleshoot issues as they arise. Prepare monthly financial reports comparing actuals to budget, forecast, and prior periods, and produce internal reporting packages with a path toward owning PE-level reporting. Lead the full monthly close process including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and income statement review. Train and support team members on financial systems and accounting tools. Partner with department leaders to identify cost-saving opportunities and support profitability analysis. Coordinate with external auditors during the annual audit and support income tax return and provision requests. Manage one direct report, providing oversight and development support. Assist with customer proposals and scope-of-work pricing as needed. Requirements Public accounting background required — Big 4 or large national firm strongly preferred at minimum Senior level. Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting or Finance. Minimum 5 years of relevant experience with strong close fundamentals: journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation. Solid US GAAP knowledge with the ability to apply it consistently in a fast-paced environment. Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with accounting or ERP systems; experience with a cloud-based ERP or ERP implementation a plus. Strong communicator comfortable interfacing with senior leadership regularly. Detail-oriented, deadline-driven, and able to manage competing priorities independently. Genuine ambition— motivated by a structured path to Controller and beyond. Exposure to or strong interest in a private equity-backed environment. Tampa Bay area residency a plus for optional hybrid collaboration. Why you'll love working here Competitive base salary up to $130,000 plus a 15% bonus target and full benefits. A stated, structured path to Controller Broad scope from day one across close, reporting, cash management, M&A integration, and ERP implementation. Direct access to PE-level reporting at a career stage where that exposure is genuinely rare. Flexible hybrid position A lean, high-trust environment where your contributions are visible.
