This role requires prior management experience and includes both hands-on accounting responsibilities and direct oversight of the Accounts Payable team. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate financial data, supporting business decision-making, and maintaining adherence to accounting standards and regulatory requirements. You will oversee the preparation, analysis, and review of financial information while driving process improvements, strengthening internal controls, and supporting both short- and long-term financial strategies. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage an accounting team responsible for financial reporting and daily accounting operations Establish and maintain internal controls and accounting policies to ensure accuracy and compliance Oversee preparation of monthly financial statements, reports, and forecasts Ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and financial reporting standards Support internal and external audit processes, including gathering and reviewing required documentation Analyze financial data to identify discrepancies, trends, and opportunities for improvement Provide recommendations to leadership on financial objectives, policies, and performance Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations Drive continuous improvement in accounting processes, systems, and reporting accuracy Collaborate cross-functionally to support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic initiatives Our Ideal Candidate for this Role Education Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field required Experience Minimum of 4 years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership or supervisory responsibilities Experience managing financial reporting, audits, and compliance processes Skills & Attributes Strong leadership and team management capabilities Excellent written and verbal communication skills High level of organization and time management skills Proficiency in accounting systems, financial reporting tools, and Microsoft Office Suite Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail CPA designation preferred Why This Role Matters The Accounting Manager plays a key role in maintaining the financial integrity of Thompson Thrift's operations.
