Full Job Description Summary:
The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounting operations of The Royal Standard, a multi-location specialty retail and wholesale brand. This role ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial records across all locations, leads the bookkeeping team, and serves as a key partner to leadership in financial reporting and analysis. The ideal candidate is a self-directed accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced, multi-location environment and can communicate financial information clearly to non-accounting stakeholders.
Essential functions:
Manage and perform all general ledger accounting, month-end close, and financial reporting across multiple locations Ensure compliance with GAAP, including proper application of accruals, matching principle, materiality, and economic entity concepts Manage and perform accounts payable and accounts receivable functions Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts; Supervise and develop bookkeeping staff, providing direction, review, and accountability Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements Partner with operations, store managers, and leadership on budgeting, variance analysis, and financial performance Administer and optimize ERP system (NetSuite preferred) including reporting and saved searches Develop and enforce internal controls and accounting policies Communicate financial results and reporting in a clear, accessible way to non-accounting team members The above responsibilities are not arranged in order of priority and are not all inclusive. Required education and experience:
5+ years of financial accounting experience in a multi-location company with direct supervision by a CPA Bachelor of Science (BS) in Accounting required Demonstrated proficiency in GAAP, including accruals, matching principle, materiality, and economic entity concepts Experience managing or mentoring accounting/bookkeeping staff ERP software experience required Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and financial modeling Familiarity with POS systems and integration with accounting platforms a plus Embraces emerging technology and process automation; actively seeks tools that improve reporting, efficiency, and accuracy Preferred education and experience: Retail or multi-location industry experience strongly preferred NetSuite strongly preferred Additional eligibility qualifications: Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy Highly self-directed — able to work independently and manage priorities without reminders Consistent, reliable follow-through on daily, weekly, and monthly deadlines Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes and implement solutions Leadership presence with the ability to direct, coach, and hold bookkeeping staff accountable Clear, professional communicator with non-accounting colleagues including store managers, operations staff, and senior leadership Adaptable and comfortable in a growing, entrepreneurial organization
