Job Description

Position Overview Belmont Medical Technologies is seeking a Cost Accounting Manager to lead inventory accounting, average costing, product cost structure management, and gross margin analysis within the Finance organization. This role reports to the Director of FP&A, with a dotted line to the Director of Accounting, serving as a critical bridge between Accounting, FP&A, and Operations. The role ensures accurate inventory valuation while providing actionable insights into cost drivers, product margins, and operational performance. The Cost Accounting Manager will own cost visibility and analysis, maintain costed Bills of Materials (BOMs), and support financial planning by delivering reliable cost data and insights. FP&A & Financial Planning
  • Own and develop inventory, COGS, and gross margin forecasts
  • Translate operational drivers into forward-looking cost projections
  • Analyze forecast vs. actual variances (price, volume, mix)
  • Support annual budget, quarterly forecasts, and long-range planning
  • Build scalable forecasting models leveraging NetSuite data
  • Partner cross-functionally to align financial forecasts with operational plans Inventory Accounting & Cost Management
  • Own inventory valuation under an average cost methodology
  • Monitor cost flows across purchasing, production, and inventory transactions
  • Analyze impacts of purchase price changes and inventory movements
  • Partner with Accounting on inventory subledger to GL reconciliation
  • Monitor reserves, excess, obsolete, and slow-moving inventory Manufacturing Costing & Absorption
  • Own development and maintenance of labor and overhead absorption rates
  • Ensure accurate application of overhead within NetSuite
  • Analyze over/under absorption and drive corrective actions
  • Partner with Operations to validate routing and production assumptions
  • Continuously refine costing inputs using actual production data Costed BOMs & Product Cost Structure
  • Develop, maintain, and govern costed Bills of Materials (BOMs)
  • Partner with Engineering and Operations for BOM accuracy
  • Analyze changes in material, labor, and overhead costs
  • Ensure BOMs align with ERP and financial reporting
  • Support new product introductions with accurate cost builds Financial Close & Accounting Partnership
  • Support inventory-related month-end close activities
  • Ensure accurate COGS recognition
  • Prepare inventory rollforwards and reporting schedules
  • Support audit requirements
  • Align with Accounting on policies, controls, and compliance
  • Establish Labor and Overhead rates and manage capitalized variances Operational & Margin Analysis
  • Provide insights into product margins and cost trends
  • Analyze procurement and production cost drivers
  • Support pricing and profitability analysis
  • Identify cost risks and opportunities Process Improvement & Systems
  • Improve cost and inventory processes and controls
  • Support ERP enhancements (NetSuite)
  • Drive automation and reduce manual work
  • Ensure scalability of processes and reporting
  • Leverage systems such as Arena for product lifecycle and cost data integration Qualifications
  • 7-10+ years in cost accounting, FP&A, or manufacturing finance
  • Strong experience with inventory and cost accounting in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with average cost methodology
  • Experience building and managing costed BOMs
  • ERP experience (NetSuite strongly preferred)
  • Experience with Arena PLM preferred
  • Strong GAAP knowledge related to inventory
  • Advanced Excel / financial modeling skills
Pay:
$120,000.00 - $145,000.00 per year
