SUMMARY The ideal candidate for the Financial Manager position will have accounting and software expertise that will assist in the preparation and oversight of the financial management and accounting functions.
The Financial Manager will:
  • Ensure the integrity of the organization's financial operations.
  • Provide support for initiatives and assist the organization in developing and meeting strategic goals.
  • The successful candidate will demonstrate daily accountability, compassion, collegiality and foster an environment of continuous improvement.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Reports to the Controller.
  • Provides assistance with billing, financial reporting, annual audits, budgets, tax, asset management and contract compliance for NHS and its related entities.
  • Reviews and monitors the general ledger monthly reconciliation and closing procedures.
  • Cross-training activities such as a be a backup for payroll, positive pay and other essential functions.
  • Works with the finance team to ensure best practices in nonprofit financial management and that accounting and administrative systems are operating efficiently and maintained effectively.
  • Assist in documenting policies and procedures.
  • Remain current with FASB accounting standards, Federal HUD Regulations and state low-income housing requirements to ensure compliance and best practices.
  • Assist the Finance Team to ensures activities and operations are performed in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and laws governing business operations, and meet DHCD program requirements, and other regulatory and/or funding requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required
  • Minimum bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a related field
  • Minimum of 3 years' of progressive accounting experience, including nonprofit or fund accounting
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, Uniform Guidance and nonprofit accounting standards
  • Proficiency with accounting software (preferably Quickbooks, Yardi Voyager, Yardi Breeze)
  • High proficiency with Microsoft 365 including Excel, Word and Outlook Preferred
  • Consolidation and related party activities experience
  • Real estate development accounting experience
  • Property accounting experience
  • Experience with grant-funded organizations
  • Prior experience with Loan Operations processes (Commercial and Consumer) Skills and Competencies
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Commitment to the mission and values of the organization
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS
Requires prolonged sitting, some bending, stooping, and stretching. Requires ability to regularly lift up to 25 pounds. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, copier, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment. Work is performed in an office environment.
