To Apply for this Job Click Here Accounting Manager - Greenbelt, MD Overview Beacon Hill Financial has partnered with a nonprofit organization in Greenbelt, MD in their search for an Accounting Manager to join their team. This position plays a key role in supporting day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, and audit readiness while partnering closely with leadership on budgeting and financial oversight. The ideal candidate brings strong nonprofit accounting experience, a hands-on approach to operations, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment. Key Responsibilities Support daily accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and reconciliations. Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules. Support financial reporting, including internal management reports and board-level materials. Partner with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis (supporting budgets in the ~$30M range). Maintain and strengthen internal controls and accounting policies in compliance with GAAP and nonprofit standards. Lead audit preparation efforts, including coordination with external auditors and preparation of audit schedules. Support cash flow monitoring and financial planning initiatives. Assist in oversight of payroll processes as needed (experience is flexible but exposure is preferred). Identify opportunities for process improvements and increased operational efficiency. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or progress toward CPA preferred. Strong nonprofit accounting experience, including exposure to fund accounting and donor/grant reporting. Demonstrated hands-on experience with operational accounting and month-end close. Experience supporting audits and working directly with external auditors. Background in budgeting and financial planning; experience supporting mid-sized organizational budgets preferred. Strong understanding of GAAP and internal controls. Experience with accounting systems required; exposure to ERP systems preferred Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and ability to analyze financial data. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple deadlines. Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments.
