Account/Financial Manager Rockville, MD 20850 $64,177.98 - $85,000.00 a year - Full-time $64,177.98 - $85,000.00 a year - Full-time Accounting & Finance ManagerPosition Summary Kaigene is seeking an experienced Accounting & Finance Manager to oversee the company's accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, cash management, and compliance activities. The Accounting & Finance Manager will play a critical role in supporting strategic decision-making, managing financial controls, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the company's financial records. This position will work closely with the CEO, external accounting firms, auditors, investors, and department leaders to support the company's growth and financing activities. Key ResponsibilitiesAccounting & Financial Reporting Manage all day-to-day accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll coordination, general ledger maintenance, and month-end close processes. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with
U.S. GAAP.
Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation. Coordinate with external accountants and auditors during financial reviews and annual audits. Ensure timely completion of account reconciliations and financial reporting requirements. Financial Planning & Analysis Prepare and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and financial models. Monitor operating expenses and provide variance analysis against budget. Develop cash flow forecasts and liquidity management plans. Support strategic planning and business decision-making through financial analysis and reporting. Prepare financial presentations and reports for management, Board of Directors, and investors. Compliance & Internal Controls Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax requirements. Coordinate corporate tax filings with external tax advisors. Maintain and improve internal controls, accounting policies, and financial procedures. Support compliance with grant, investment, and contractual reporting obligations. Assist with due diligence activities related to financing, partnerships, and corporate transactions. Treasury & Cash Management Monitor cash balances and banking activities. Manage wire transfers, payment approvals, and banking relationships. Optimize cash utilization and investment of corporate funds. Support fundraising activities by providing financial information and analyses. Human Resources & Operations Support Coordinate payroll processing and employee benefit administration. Support stock option administration and equity-related record keeping. Assist with vendor contracts, insurance renewals, and operational compliance matters. Support implementation and maintenance of accounting and ERP systems. QualificationsEducation Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required. CPA certification preferred. MBA or advanced finance/accounting degree is a plus. Experience 5+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience. Experience in biotechnology, pharmaceutical, life sciences, or venture-backed startup companies preferred. Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting requirements. Experience managing budgets, forecasts, and cash flow planning. Experience supporting audits, tax filings, and investor reporting. Skills & Competencies Strong accounting and financial analysis skills. Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities. Ability to handle confidential financial information with discretion. Strong proficiency in QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar accounting systems. Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience in venture-backed biotechnology companies. Experience supporting fundraising activities and investor due diligence. Familiarity with stock option administration and equity management platforms. Experience working with external auditors, legal counsel, and tax advisors. Language Working proficiency in English Fluent in Korean Success Measures Accurate and timely monthly financial close and reporting. Effective cash flow management and forecasting. Successful completion of audits and compliance requirements. Reliable financial information supporting management and Board decisions. Strong financial controls and operational efficiency.
