Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a skilled and mission-minded Finance Manager to manage the church's financial operations that support our ministries, staff, congregation, and preschool. This role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who understands both the technical demands of nonprofit finance and the unique rhythms of church community. The Finance Manager oversees contributions, accounts payable, bank reconciliations, general ledger management, budgeting, payroll, tax reporting, and stewardship of confidential donor information. This position works closely with Pastoral leadership, staff, Session members, congregants, and outside partners. This role is responsible for the management and maintenance of all financial records and reporting requirements for Cary Presbyterian Church (CPC), Cary Presbyterian Preschool (CPP) and Esperanza de Guatemala(CPC mission). Serves as a resource to Church teams by providing data and information as requested. Attend meetings as needed. Responsibilities Ensure accounting policies and procedures are maintained and followed and that systems are in place to ensure accurate financial information and reporting. Ensure adequate accounting controls. Ensure that data is entered into QuickBooks and Servant Keeper as required to ensure accurate and timely reporting. Prepare Annual operation budgets for CPC and CPP. Prepare monthly and annual reports in QuickBooks. Ensure all disbursements and receipts are properly transacted. Administer all processes regarding payroll for CPC and CPP on schedule and in compliance with regulations. Manage employee benefits administration. Maintain bank reconciliations Prepare for and participate in internal reviews as they occur. Coordinate various information requests and reporting for teams and for congregational distributions. Follow the direction of the church teams regarding investments and disbursements. Provide support and financial information to Church Treasurer and all Church teams as needed. Prepare for and attend team meetings for Budget and Finance via evening zoom meeting. Prepare for and attend Legacy and Generosity team meetings during office hours as needed. Attend evening Session meetings on a quarterly basis. Required Skills and Abilities Excellent financial management and organizational skills. High integrity, accuracy and confidentiality. Knowledge of relevant general accounting procedures for charitable non-profit organizations. Ability to create, maintain and improve financial documents. Superior math skills and analytical abilities. Proficiency in accounting computer programs as well as Microsoft office suite. Excellent communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work with teams, volunteers and other constituents. Education/Experience Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance preferred. Minium of 5 years' experience in an accounting role. Experience on a church staff a plus. Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 15 pounds Ability to operate office equipment such as a copier Ability to see details at close range Ability to sit at a desk or PC for long periods of time Ability to work in an office environment. Reporting Relationship This position reports to the Pastor/Head of Staff of Cary Presbyterian Church.
