Job Description
Description We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager/Supervisor to lead core accounting operations in Charlotte, North Carolina. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, guiding the month-end close process, and supporting reliable financial reporting. The ideal candidate brings strong general ledger expertise, a hands-on approach to reconciliations and journal entries, and the ability to collaborate effectively during audit activities.
Responsibilities:
- Direct monthly closing activities to ensure deadlines are met and financial data is complete and accurate.
- Oversee general ledger maintenance, including review of account activity and resolution of discrepancies.
- Prepare and approve journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation and accounting rationale.
- Perform and supervise account reconciliations to confirm balances are properly stated.
- Support the preparation of financial reports and help ensure consistency with accounting standards and internal policies.
- Partner with auditors by organizing requested documentation, answering questions, and assisting through financial statement audit procedures.
- Monitor accounting processes for accuracy, compliance, and opportunities to strengthen internal controls.
- Provide day-to-day guidance to accounting staff and promote efficient execution of departmental priorities. Requirements
- 5+ years of accounting experience, including responsibility for month-end close activities.
- Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting and account reconciliation practices.
- Experience preparing and reviewing journal entries in a structured accounting environment.
- Background supporting or leading financial statement audit processes.
- Ability to analyze financial information, identify variances, and resolve accounting issues effectively.
- Proficiency with accounting systems and spreadsheet tools used for reporting and reconciliation.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
