Carson City Patient Financial Services Full Time Day Shift Summary Responsible for the management of the system's accounts receivable to optimize reimbursement in a compliant fashion for services rendered by Carson Tahoe Health System, which includes Carson Tahoe Regional Healthcare, Carson Tahoe Medical Group, and Carson Tahoe Continuing Care Hospital. This role drives performance improvement, ensures regulatory compliance, and optimizes cash collections while maintaining a strong focus on patient experience and stakeholder collaboration. The Manager partners closely with internal departments and external payers to support financial performance and operational excellence. Serves as a change agent in a constantly changing and growing system and drives process and systems supporting the change and growth.
Qualifications Required:
Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Finance, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of five (5) years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare revenue cycle or patient financial services. Strong knowledge of hospital and professional billing, payer requirements, and revenue cycle operations.
Preferred:
HFMA certification (e.g., CHFP, CRCR) or similar credential. Experience with Epic and contract management systems. Essential Functions Ensures compliance with all federal, state, local-government, and private-industry mandates, including HIPAA and PCI regulations. Monitors and analyzes revenue cycle performance across Hospital Billing (HB) and Professional Billing (PB), identifying trends and driving action plans to improve key performance indicators (KPIs). Develops and executes strategies to optimize cash collections, reduce AR days, and improve overall financial outcomes. Identifies operational risks, barriers, and process gaps; implements sustainable solutions to improve efficiency and performance. Builds and maintains strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and payer representatives to support issue resolution and performance improvement. Holds PFS team accountable for productivity, quality, and service standards, with a balanced focus on patient experience and financial outcomes. Provides leadership, coaching, and development for PFS staff; partners with training teams to ensure ongoing education and competency. Ensures compliance with Medicare bad debt reporting requirements, including oversight of identification, documentation, and audit readiness. Oversees the accuracy and maintenance of net revenue calculations within contract management systems. Supports audits, regulatory reviews, and internal compliance initiatives as needed. Performs other related duties as assigned.
