Job Description

Description We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to support a long-term contract assignment in Albany, New York. This on-site role will lead core accounting operations, guide a small team, and help ensure accurate monthly close and financial reporting. The position is ideal for a hands-on accounting leader who can step in quickly, provide dependable oversight, and contribute across both routine and special reporting needs.
Responsibilities:
  • Direct daily accounting activities across general ledger operations and provide guidance to a team of accounting professionals.
  • Examine account reconciliations for accuracy, completeness, and timely completion before final approval.
  • Oversee journal entry and posting activity to ensure transactions are recorded properly within the accounting system.
  • Manage month-end close processes and help maintain an organized, deadline-driven accounting calendar.
  • Prepare and review monthly financial reports, ensuring information is clear, accurate, and ready for leadership use.
  • Support additional reporting requests and ad hoc financial analysis as needed by department leadership.
  • Partner on accounting-related system and technology tasks, including coordination with IT when process support is required.
  • Use Excel extensively to analyze data, validate balances, and produce reporting that supports decision-making. Requirements
  • At least 5 years of accounting experience, including prior work in an accounting leadership or manager-level capacity.
  • Strong command of general ledger structure, accounting controls, and month-end close activities.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising or mentoring a small accounting team.
  • Proven ability to review reconciliations, journal entries, and financial postings with a high level of accuracy.
  • Background in monthly financial reporting and support for audit or financial statement review activities.
  • Advanced Excel skills and the ability to work effectively within accounting software environments, including general ledger systems.
  • Ability to contribute immediately in a fast-paced setting with minimal ramp-up time.
  • On-site availability in Albany, New York for the duration of the assignment.
