Job Description
Job Summary:
The Manager of Patient Accounting monitors all activities of the Patient Accounting Department. They will lead the work of staff in the Patient Accounting Department, act as technical resource to staff, computes, bills, posts, and collects patient accounts, ensures adequate staffing and quality controls the work product of the departments, and performs related duties are required.
Essential Functions, Duties and Responsibilities:

Primary Job Duties:
? Plans and directs patient insurance, billing, collections, and data processing functions to ensure accurate patient billing and efficient account collection. ? Manages the Patient Accounts department within the established budget including annual planning and monthly status reports. ? Reviews current status of patient account to identify and resolve billing and processing problems in a timely manner. ? Establishes and implements a system for the collection of delinquent accounts ensuring third- party payers are contacted. ? Establishes and recommends credit and collection policies. ? Develops and implements new procedures to improve the quality and quantity of work processes. ? Ensures policies are communicated and administered consistently. ? Develops and oversees management system related to billing functions. Works with IT to ensure timely and accurate implementation of system upgrades for HIPAA compliance. ? Maintains knowledge of medical billing and coding procedures and complies with established government, insurance and third-party payer regulations. Ensures that team has resources, tools, feedback, and assistance needed to achieve desired performance.

Education Required:
? Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Management, or related field. OR experience as indicated below
Experience Required:
? Minimum of five years' experience in medical business office and/or collection experience. ? Previous supervisory experience preferred.
Working Conditions:
? Normal office, team approach, multiple locations.
Mental Demands:
? Must be able to work with strict deadlines and highly confidential information. Must be able to deal with sensitive issues and discussions with employees and physicians.

? Sit, walk, stand.
