Job Description

Accounting Manager "New York Pilates is about community and creating a space where people feel at home, leave their day behind and get into their bodies" - Heather Andersen, Founder & Owner We Want You! New York Pilates is looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Accounting Manager to bring our AP function in-house. This role will take ownership of bill pay while expanding support across broader finance operations—providing stronger visibility, accuracy, and partnership with the business. This is an opportunity to build and optimize internal processes, improve financial tracking, and collaborate closely with leadership on day-to-day financial operations. This is a full-time, U.S. based position, with required availability during EST hours; strong preference for candidates based in NYC. The Role Accounts Payable Own end-to-end AP process: invoice intake, coding, approvals, and payment execution Manage vendor relationships and maintain accurate records Ensure timely and accurate bill payments, avoiding late fees or discrepancies Monitor cash outflows and flag any irregularities or risks Financial Operations Support Own weekly cash flow tracking, forecasting, and reporting Support month-end close (reconciliations, accruals, documentation) Maintain accurate financial data within accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks) Partner with leadership to improve visibility into spend and budgeting Process Improvement & Controls Build and refine AP systems, workflows, and approval processes Establish checks and balances (especially if structured as a part-time team) Identify inefficiencies and recommend scalable solutions Ensure compliance with internal policies and accounting best practices What We're Looking For 5+ years of experience in Accounts Payable, Bookkeeping, and Finance Operations Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Experience with accounting software (QuickBooks preferred) Comfortable managing high-volume transactions with accuracy Direct experience working closely with and reporting directly to senior leadership, with the ability to communicate financial insights clearly and concisely.
