Job Description

Summary:
Our award-winning client is seeking a Statutory Accounting Manager to join their team. In this leadership role, you will play a critical role in overseeing our monthly closing process, financial reporting, and ensuring adherence to statutory accounting regulations. You will manage a team and be responsible for a wide range of accounting activities, from journal entries and reinsurance accounting to tax filings and regulatory reporting.
Responsibilities:
Manage the monthly closing process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Prepare monthly and quarterly journal entries for insurance and reinsurance activities, taxes, fees, and other adjustments. Maintain the insurance database and generate reports. Manage investment accounting activities. Oversee reinsurance accounting, billing, and collections. Prepare quarterly and annual statutory and GAAP financials, as well as regulatory filings. Lead the preparation of annual audited financial statements and footnotes. Prepare corporate tax provisions and premium tax filings for various jurisdictions. Stay up-to-date on statutory accounting regulations and implement necessary changes. Lead ad-hoc accounting projects as needed.
Required Qualifications:
5-10 years of experience in P&C insurance accounting, with a strong understanding of statutory and reinsurance accounting. Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required. CPA or Master's degree a plus. Experience researching and resolving complex accounting issues. Proven leadership skills and the ability to manage a team. Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Proficiency in advanced Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Access, Outlook, Teams). Experience with statutory accounting software is a plus.
