Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to lead our financial operations and ensure the accuracy and integrity of our financial reporting. In this pivotal role, you will oversee a team of accounting professionals, manage complex accounting functions, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards such as GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act). Your expertise will drive financial clarity, support strategic decision-making, and uphold the highest standards of financial management across diverse sectors including non-profit, governmental, and corporate environments. Responsibilities Lead the preparation and analysis of financial statements, ensuring adherence to GAAP and regulatory requirements such as LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit) compliance and securities law. Oversee general ledger accounting, account reconciliation, bank reconciliations, and journal entries to maintain accurate financial records. Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, including invoice processing, payment approvals, and cash flow analysis. Conduct balance sheet reconciliation and ensure accuracy in financial report writing and interpretation for internal stakeholders. Supervise month-end closing procedures, including accrual accounting, budget variance analysis, and forecasting activities. Ensure compliance with regulatory reporting standards for governmental accounting and non-profit organizations. Mentor and develop accounting staff by providing training on technical accounting concepts such as double-entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, and the use of accounting software like Sage, Xero, or other financial software platforms. Support internal audits and coordinate external auditing processes to uphold transparency and accountability. Facilitate financial management activities including budgeting, financial analysis, and strategic planning to optimize organizational resources. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of securities law, Wills & Trusts & Estate Law as applicable to organizational assets or legal structures. Experience Proven experience in public accounting or corporate finance with a strong background in technical accounting principles. Extensive knowledge of GAAP standards combined with practical experience in SOX compliance and regulatory reporting. Demonstrated expertise in governmental or non-profit accounting environments with familiarity in LIHTC programs or similar tax credit structures. Strong background in financial statement preparation, account reconciliation, bank reconciliation, journal entries, and bookkeeping practices. Experience utilizing accounting software such as Sage or Xero; proficiency in financial report writing and interpretation is essential. Prior leadership experience mentoring teams of accountants or finance professionals is highly desirable. Solid understanding of financial concepts including cash flow analysis, budgeting, forecasting, private equity considerations, and general ledger reconciliation.
