Company Overview Easterseals Eastern Pennsylvania is dedicated to empowering children and adults with developmental delays, disabilities, and other special needs through comprehensive services and community programs. We are committed to fostering independence, inclusion, and meaningful engagement for the individuals we serve. Overview We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee the accounting team and manage the agency's day-to-day accounting operations. In this role, you will oversee day‑to‑day accounting activities—including general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, cash management, and reconciliations—while guiding a small, dedicated team. Reporting to the Vice President of Business Operations, you will play a vital role in monthly and year‑end close processes, reporting, audit preparation, and maintaining strong internal controls that support sound decision‑making across the organization. This position is based in our Allentown office and requires an on-site presence; remote arrangements are not available. This position is ideal for a detail‑oriented accounting professional with nonprofit experience who enjoys improving processes, problem-solving, and working collaboratively. Responsibilities Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and cash management. Supervise and support accounting staff by providing guidance, training, and performance feedback. Manage monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes and account reconciliations, including select month-end journal entries, and review and approval of all journal entries made by the external accounting firm. Produce general ledger reports for members of leadership team. Assist with audit preparation and funder reporting requirements. Monitor cash balances across all accounts and report regularly to the Vice President of Business Operations. Perform bank reconciliations for payroll and FSA checking accounts. Reconcile petty cash. Review and provide final approval of accounts receivable and cash receipts prior to posting. Oversee accounts payable processes, including invoice review, coding verification, data entry approval, and payment authorization. Reconcile monthly revenue between accounting system and billing database. Oversee monthly reconciliation between the accounting system and donor database, including pledge reconciliation. Communicate with appropriate ESEP staff regarding accounting policies and procedures to ensure adherence and integrity of accounting system. Maintain ongoing documentation of accounting processes and procedures. Drive continuous improvements of accounting functions to streamline and enhance accounting operations. Ensure accounting department goals are met through effective supervision of assigned staff. Specialized Skills/Abilities/Knowledge Experience with nonprofit accounting. Experience with Abilia/MIP accounting software preferred; Excel skills required. High attention to detail with strong organizational and analytical skills. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of accounting principles, internal controls, and financial reporting. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Teams, and related software programs. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. Commitment to maintaining high professional standards and ethical practices. Commitment to serving individuals with disabilities, and families raising children with disabilities.
