Job Description

Job Overview The Revenue Cycle Manager is responsible for optimizing all aspects of the revenue cycle for a multi-provider ophthalmic practice. This role ensures accurate billing, timely collections, regulatory compliance, and strong collaboration between front-end, clinical, surgical, and billing teams.
Duties Revenue Cycle Oversight:
Manage the full revenue cycle. Oversee revenue performance across the practice. Ensure accurate charge capture for professional, diagnostic, and surgical services.
Billing, Coding & Compliance:
Ensure compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer regulations. Oversee correct use of CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10, modifiers, and global periods. Partner with physicians to improve documentation and reduce risk.
Denials & Collections Management:
Analyze, track, and reduce claim denials and underpayments. Oversee patient balance collection strategies. Monitor AR aging and resolve high-aged balances.
Front-End & Patient Access Collaboration:
Partner with front desk and call center teams on registration and financial workflows. Support point-of-service collection initiatives.
Reporting & Analytics:
Track KPIs such as net collections, days in AR, denial rates, and POS collections. Prepare regular reports and use data to drive improvements.
Team Leadership & Development:
Lead, coach, and develop revenue cycle staff. Establish performance expectations and accountability.
Payer Relations & Contract Support:
Serve as liaison with payers for claims and reimbursement issues. Support contract implementation and identify reimbursement gaps. Skills Proven experience managing a comprehensive revenue cycle within a healthcare or similar setting Strong understanding of medical billing, coding (including
ICD-10, CPT
), insurance claims processing, and payer policies Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams and foster a collaborative environment Analytical mindset with proficiency in data analysis tools to interpret KPIs and identify improvement opportunities Exceptional communication skills for effective collaboration across departments and with external payers Ability to adapt quickly to changing regulations and implement best practices in revenue management Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills to manage multiple priorities efficiently Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business, finance, or related field. 5+ years of revenue cycle experience in a medical practice. Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Ophthalmology billing experience preferred. Familiarity with ophthalmology EMR and practice management systems.
