Job Description

Job Summary Washington Township, Berks County, is seeking a detail-oriented Treasurer to join our organization. Work is performed under the direction of the Township Manager. The Treasurer will assist in the financial operation of the Township, including, but not limited to, payroll preparation, budget formation, monthly financial reporting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and annual audit functions. This position also assists with human resource management. Municipal government experience is preferred. Job Functions Responsible for the accounting records for all funds of Washington Township, including General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll and the associated files, reports and documentation necessary for various audits-internal and state Prepare monthly Treasurer's reports as may be required by federal, state, and county governments as per regulations Oversight and preparation of the Township Budget Assist the Township Manager in the administration of the employee benefits program, PMRS pension plan, and township insurance where financial data and reporting is required to operate the program Assist the Township Manager in the administration of procurement contracts for materials, equipment, services and grants Serve as secretary of the Washington Township Safety Committee Knowledge and Experience Associates Degree in Accounting or a related field Minimum of three (3) years of related experience Knowledge in audit and reporting requirements for the Commonwealth of Pa, including liquid fuels auditing Proficient in math with excellent analytical skills Knowledge of the IRS tax code, including W-2 and 1099 requirements Extensive knowledge of the computer and applications software including Windows programs and the Microsoft Office suite, as well as experience using accounting and payroll software Strong understanding of financial regulations and compliance standards Excellent communication skills, both oral and written Ability to maintain confidentiality due to the nature of the administration department
Pay:
$27.00 - $30.00 per hour
