Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager / Client Services Manager to take full ownership of a dedicated portfolio of 80-100+ business and individual clients. This role operates as an 'accounting firm within an accounting firm' and requires strong leadership, technical accounting and tax expertise, exceptional client service, and the ability to mentor and oversee bookkeeping staff.

The ideal candidate is proactive, organized, client‑focused, and comfortable managing both people and processes while maintaining the highest professional standards.

Client Accounting & AdvisoryServe as the primary point of contact for assigned clients, maintaining meaningful monthly communication and documenting interactionsReview monthly financial statements promptly to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely deliveryProvide ongoing consulting, accounting guidance, and proactive tax planning based on client needsMonitor client profitability monthly and collaborate with firm leadership on fee adjustmentsVisit client locations annually to strengthen relationships and understand operationscTax ManagementManage preparation and review of business and individual tax returns for assigned clientsOversee year‑end tax planning, quarterly tax estimates, and reasonable compensation analysisCoordinate tax return production, maintain organized tax files, and manage deadlinesHandle tax questions and correspondence with federal, state, and local taxing authoritiesSupervise, train, and support bookkeepers, including hiring and performance managementReview bookkeeping work, monitor production metrics, and ensure workflow efficiencyLead weekly meetings to review production status, client issues, and staff needsProvide technical accounting support and guidance to staffLead initial strategy sessions and oversee full new‑client setup and installationsProcess new accounts initially before transitioning to bookkeeping staffComplete back‑work, registrations, and incorporation coordination as neededEnsure clients are reporting accurately and on time before full handoffActively request and generate client referrals to support portfolio growthIdentify opportunities to expand firm services within existing client relationshipsSupport special projects including cash‑flow projections, loan applications, and system implementationsServe as liaison with accounting, tax, payroll, and IT software vendorsSupport system updates, software conversions, and client trainingMaintain a professional office presence and model strong organizational habitsContribute to a positive, collaborative, and efficient office culture
