Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to lead our financial operations and ensure the integrity of our accounting processes. In this pivotal role, you will oversee a team responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. Your expertise in various accounting disciplines will drive sound financial management, support strategic decision-making, and uphold the organization's commitment to transparency and excellence. Responsibilities Lead the preparation and analysis of financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and other regulatory requirements. Oversee general ledger accounting, account reconciliation, journal entries, and double-entry bookkeeping to ensure accuracy and completeness. Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, including bank reconciliations, cash flow analysis, and accounts reconciliation. Ensure compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls and assist with internal and external audits to uphold financial integrity. Supervise month-end and year-end closing activities, including balance sheet reconciliation and financial report writing. Mentor and develop accounting staff, fostering continuous improvement in technical accounting skills such as
GAAP, LIHTC
(Low-Income Housing Tax Credit), governmental accounting, and non-profit accounting. Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to aid strategic planning initiatives. Maintain knowledge of securities law, regulatory reporting standards, and tax regulations relevant to the organization's operations. Utilize advanced accounting software such as Sage, Xero, or other financial management tools to streamline processes and improve reporting accuracy. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA certification preferred. Extensive experience in corporate accounting with a strong foundation in technical accounting concepts including GAAP, accrual accounting, and financial statement preparation. Proven expertise in SOX compliance, governmental accounting standards, non-profit accounting practices, and securities law. Demonstrated ability to mentor teams effectively while managing multiple priorities within tight deadlines. Proficiency with accounting software such as Sage or Xero; strong knowledge of financial report interpretation and financial analysis techniques. Experience with tax regulations related to Wills, trusts & estate law is a plus but not required. Excellent analytical skills combined with a solid understanding of financial concepts like cash flow analysis, budget management, account reconciliation, journal entries, and general ledger reconciliation.
