We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee daily accounting operations, lead a high-performing accounting team, and drive process improvements that support organizational growth and efficiency. Please note this position will primarily work onsite at our Santa Rosa location, with the possibility of a hybrid work arrangement. SUMMARY The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing daily accounting operations and supervising the accounting support team, including the Staff Accountant, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable positions. This role reports directly to the Controller and plays a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end closing processes, improving internal procedures, and ensuring efficient departmental operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong accounting knowledge, leadership experience, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Ease of working in a paperless environment and ability to support and implement transactional automation are a must.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following reflects management's definition of essential functions for this job but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned. Supervise and support the Staff Accountant, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable team members. Provide leadership, coaching, training, and performance management for accounting staff. Oversee accounting functions including AP, AR, account reconciliations, and general ledger activities. Review journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reports for accuracy and completeness. Ensure timely processing of invoices, payments, collections, and customer/vendor account maintenance. Monitor accounting workflows and recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy. Assist the Controller with budgeting, audits, financial reporting, and special projects. Maintain compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and internal controls. Support cross-functional communication with operations, HR, and other departments as needed. Assist in developing and documenting accounting procedures and best practices.
COMPETENCIES
; Knowledge of, Skills, and Abilities. Advance knowledge of accounting practices, full cycle accounting, laws and regulations in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), with an emphasis on nonprofit accounting practices. Attention to detail to ensure quality work, and deadlines are adhered to. Ability to manage time effectively to ensure that projects are equally balanced. Ability to analyze financial data to draw insights, provide feedback and guidance based on analysis, and communicate findings to the Controller. Must have excellent communication skills when providing instructions, creating detailed reports, and offering insight to other managers. This should include verbal and written communication. Must be able to work independently with limited supervision and be a team player Ability to apply problem solving to resolve or avoid problems as well as utilizing this skillset to find solutions to complex financial issues. Ability to use discretion when managing sensitive and confidential information. Identifying and implementing process improvements along with the Controller. Intermediate to advance computer skills using Microsoft Suite of products such as Outlook, Word, and Excel. Ability to use and understand excel formulas (i.e., VLOOKUP) and utilize data sorting and filtering (i.e., Conditional Formatting, Pivot table) to assess data. FastBank, Avalara, and BNA Fixed assets, SAP B1 knowledge are a plus.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred. Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience required. Previous experience managing or supervising employees is required. Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting. Experience with ERP/accounting systems and Microsoft Excel. Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Strong communication and leadership abilities. Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities with attention to detail.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Manufacturing or multi-entity accounting experience preferred. Experience leading process improvement initiatives. CPA designation or CPA track is a plus.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Much of the work consists of conveying information verbally and in writing and working on a computer while sitting or standing for extended periods. While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to sit, stand, and walk; use a finger, handle, or feel objects; reach with hands; talk and hear; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. The employee must have the ability to lift, carry, and/or move up to 50 pounds with regularity. The employee occasionally may need to transport himself or herself to another office location in mild to inclement weather. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

$110,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
