Job Statement:
The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the organization's day-to-day accounting operations and ensuring accurate, timely financial reporting. This role owns the full accounting cycle and monthly close process, working closely with the CFO to bring structure, consistency, and accountability to all financial activities. This position is responsible for the day-to-day execution of all accounting functions, allowing the CFO to focus on financial strategy, forecasting, and organizational planning. This is an opportunity for a strong accountant to take ownership of core financial operations in an organization and build processes that support long-term sustainability. This role plays a key part in supporting a growing, multi-county nonprofit organization managing multiple grants and funding streams.

Accounting Operations Support daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash activity, and general ledger maintenance Keep accounting processes on track and ensure deadlines are met Record and monitor financial transactions accurately and timely Manage unusual or non-routine accounting entries and situations Communicate with vendors and assist in resolving accounting-related issues Reconciliations & Financial Accuracy Monitor and reconcile employee reimbursements and organizational credit card activity Perform bank reconciliations and assist with other account reconciliations as needed Prepare journal entries and supporting documentation Assist with deferred revenue and other specialized accounting entries Review financial information for completeness, accuracy, and proper support Develop and maintain familiarity with the organization's grants and funding sources to support accurate accounting and reporting Systems & Process Improvement Own and drive the monthly close process, including maintaining a close calendar Help maximize the organization's use of Sage Intacct and related systems Identify opportunities to improve accounting workflows, reporting, and efficiency Establish and document clear accounting workflows, procedures, and controls Maintain organized financial documentation and attachment support within accounting systems Reporting & Finance Support Run and analyze standard financial reports Prepare budget-to-actual reports and draft finance committee materials Provide requested documentation and support during audit preparation Collaboration Work closely with the CFO and Accounting Specialist to support smooth accounting operations Coordinate with program and administrative staff as needed to obtain documentation or resolve issues Contribute to special projects and other finance-related initiatives as needed Required Qualifications,

Bachelor's degree in Accounting required 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, including responsibility for month-end close activities Experience with general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and journal entries Strong Excel and accounting software skills required Experience with Sage Intacct preferred Nonprofit accounting experience preferred Key Attributes Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy Able to manage multiple responsibilities and deadlines effectively Comfortable handling both routine and complex accounting tasks Takes initiative and follows through independently Demonstrates sound judgment when handling financial transactions and supporting documentation Demonstrates strong ethical judgment and maintains strict confidentiality in handling financial and personnel information Interested in improving systems, processes, and organizational efficiency Communicates clearly and professionally with both finance and non-finance staff
