Through our programs, partnerships, and education initiatives, we work to close gaps in care and elevate the quality of dentistry statewide. Position Overview The Finance & Administration Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the financial health and operational excellence of our organization. This individual will lead all financial processes while also managing core administrative functions, including payroll, benefits, and HR support. As a small nonprofit, we are looking for someone who is both strategic and hands-on—someone who is excited to contribute to a mission-focused team and build efficient systems that support growth and impact. Key Responsibilities Finance & Accounting Lead all day-to-day financial operations, including general ledger management, reconciliations, and cash flow oversight Manage and execute the monthly close process accurately and on time Prepare and deliver financial reports on a regular cadence (monthly/quarterly) and upon request for leadership and the Board Maintain financial records in accordance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards Serve as the primary point of contact for the annual audit, including preparation of schedules and coordination with external auditors Take the lead on preparing all documentation required for the annual IRS Form 990 Support annual budgeting and ongoing forecasting in partnership with leadership Ensure compliance with financial policies, grant requirements, and regulatory standards Continuously evaluate and improve financial systems, processes, and internal controls Administration & Operations Manage payroll processing and ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws Oversee employee benefits administration, including enrollment, renewals, and vendor coordination Support HR functions, including onboarding/offboarding, maintaining employee records, and assisting with employee relations matters Manage accounts payable and receivable, including invoicing, vendor payments, and collections Maintain and improve administrative systems, policies, and procedures Support vendor management and organizational operations as needed Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field 5+ years of experience in finance, accounting, or operations (nonprofit experience strongly preferred) Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting, including audits and Form 990 preparation Experience with payroll, benefits administration, and HR support Proficiency with accounting systems and financial reporting tools Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a small team environment Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset Commitment to the organization's mission and values Preferred Experience CPA or equivalent certification Experience in healthcare, dental, or public health settings Familiarity with grant tracking and reporting Experience working in a small or growing nonprofit organization This range reflects market benchmarks for finance/operations roles within small to mid-sized nonprofits in North Carolina, particularly in the healthcare or human services sectors. Candidates with significant nonprofit audit, 990, and HR/payroll experience may be considered toward the top of the range.
