Finance Manager About NEASC The New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) is a nonprofit membership organization founded in 1885 that accredits and supports more than 1,500 educational institutions across New England and internationally. Through its commissions, NEASC serves public schools, independent schools, and international schools with accreditation, professional learning, and continuous improvement resources. Position Summary NEASC seeks an experienced and collaborative Finance Manager to lead the organization's day-to-day finance and accounting operations. This is an important hands-on role that combines solid accounting responsibilities with genuine opportunities to improve systems, strengthen processes, and support organizational decision-making. The successful candidate will be encouraged to evaluate and enhance NEASC's current financial operations — identifying practical ways to better leverage available technology to improve efficiency, streamline workflows, strengthen reporting, and reduce unnecessary manual processes. The Finance Manager will work collaboratively with NEASC's internal IT team to support the thoughtful integration of technology into financial operations and reporting. This role is well suited for a finance professional who enjoys both reliable accounting work and thoughtful process improvement within a collegial, small-organization environment. The Finance Manager reports to the President/CEO and partners closely with the Chief Operations Officer and other senior staff. The role offers substantial independence, visibility, and the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to organizational operations and planning. Key Responsibilities Financial Management & Accounting Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end and year-end close Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management and the Board of Directors Develop and maintain summary financial dashboards that give leadership and the Board a clear, visual view of organizational performance — including revenue, expenses, budget-to-actual results, cash position, and key financial trends Prepare forward-looking income and expense forecasts, including scenario-based projections, to support planning, resource allocation, and organizational decision-making Coordinate the annual audit process and serve as liaison with external auditors Oversee billing and revenue tracking related to accreditation activities, membership dues, events, and related services Maintain fixed asset schedules and support payroll-related accounting activities Monitor financial controls and ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards and organizational policies Systems & Operational Improvement Help strengthen financial systems, workflows, and reporting processes Partner with internal staff and technology resources to improve integration between membership/CRM and accounting systems, reducing duplicate entry and improving billing accuracy Maintain clear and reliable financial procedures and documentation Identify opportunities to reduce unnecessary manual processes and improve efficiency Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field Minimum of five years of progressive accounting or financial management experience Hands-on experience with full-cycle accounting operations: AP, AR, journal entries, reconciliations, month-end and year-end close Experience preparing financial statements and supporting external audits Strong proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and financial modeling Demonstrated ability to build financial dashboards and visual reporting tools — using Excel and/or business intelligence tools — with clear charts and summaries for leadership and Board audiences Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills, including the ability to present financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with colleagues across the organization Preferred CPA, CMA, or MBA Experience in nonprofit, association, or educational organizations; familiarity with nonprofit reporting, deferred revenue, functional expense allocation, and Form 990 support Experience implementing or supporting integrations between CRM/membership systems and accounting platforms Familiarity with cloud-based accounting systems and financial reporting or BI tools Experience supporting operational or systems improvements Experience with international financial operations, including multi-currency transactions and cross-border reimbursements
