Position Summary These are supervisory positions responsible for achieving compliance with tax laws administered by the department. These supervisors will lead staff, provide training and mentoring, and oversee staff initiation of collection activities. These positions are responsible for directing, reviewing, and developing professional staff within the Compliance Bureau. Professional staff within the bureau focus on different types of collection activities. These positions will support staff in one of the following areas:Office Collections:
This supervisor will lead staff of varied levels of experience who are responsible for collecting overdue taxes and other agency debts. Initially, agents work mainly in a call center environment responding to contacts from customers. As agents progress, they spend less time on the phone and more time doing computer-based account management investigative work and initiating collection actions. Process and Data Services (PDS): This supervisor will lead staff that perform exception work for the bureau. These duties include processing paper mail, payments, and significant manual refund work, especially during the filing season. This unit also manages employer contacts for wage attachments and vendor offsets for the bureau. This position will be headquartered in Madison only. Unit supervisors participate in managing the overall work of the bureau, oversee the call center, and ensure consistent collection philosophy to maximize efficiency with an emphasis on customer service. The work is performed under general supervision of a Compliance Bureau Section Manager. Salary Information The starting pay rate for this position is between $35.60 - $40.01 per hour ($74,048 and $83,220) annually), depending on experience and qualifications. The classification of this position is Revenue Agent Supervisor, which is in Pay Schedule 81, Pay Range 03. Pay will be set in accordance with the State of Wisconsin Compensation Plan in effect at the time of hire. Starting pay for current state employees may vary based on applicable provisions in the Compensation Plan.Job Details Background Checks :

This position requires occasional in-state travel with some overnight stays. Qualifications Minimally qualified applicants will have experience: Experience working with income, sales/use, withholding and/or corporation/franchise tax laws. Collection experience. Experience training or mentoring staff. Leadership experience (e.g. leading a project or team). In addition to the above, well qualified applicants will have experience: Supervisory experience. Experience using Wisconsin Income Processing Audit System (WINPAS). Experience measuring team performance and using data to improve team results.
