Operating in a hybrid capacity out of Long Island, New York, this pivotal role directly supports executive leadership and spearheads the financial strategy, partnership accounting, and fiscal governance of the organization. As a trusted advisor to the executive suite, you will champion operational efficiency, elevate reporting frameworks, and direct a dedicated accounting team. Do:
Execute comprehensive fiscal oversight across all core accounting functions, including the general ledger, multi-tiered cash management, fixed assets, bank reconciliations, and rigorous month-end and year-end closing processes. Architect specialized professional partnership accounting structures, precisely monitoring client trust accounts, legal billing workflows, overhead allocations, and work-in-progress (WIP) valuations. Synthesize complex monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, transforming raw financial data into actionable, strategic insights for executive leadership. Drive corporate compliance initiatives, supervising business tax filings (including 1099s, sales and use tax, state-specific corporate filings, and PTET distributions) alongside the preparation and deployment of partner K-1 schedules. Champion benefit and tax administration governance, orchestrating comprehensive plan audits, insurance renewal data aggregation, and regulatory compliance filings like Form 5500s. Streamline organizational workflows across financial planning, budgeting, and billing departments to minimize aged receivables, maximize collection velocity, and optimize revenue realization. Lead and mentor a high-performing accounting team, fostering a culture of continuous development, collaborative problem-solving, and superior service orientation. Optimize proprietary financial management systems, leading software upgrades, dashboard configuration, and digital integrations to automate reporting and maximize data transparency.
What You Bring:
Educational & Professional Credentials:
A Bachelor s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline is mandatory; a CPA designation is highly preferred.
Domain Expertise:
A minimum of 7 to 10+ years of progressive, upwardly mobile accounting leadership experience, explicitly embedded within a legal or partnership-structured professional services organization.
Technical Mastery:
Deep, practical knowledge of specialized partnership equity structures, rigorous multi-client trust accounts, compliance regulations, and advanced financial reporting methodologies.
Systems Fluency:
High proficiency with sophisticated enterprise legal billing and financial software ecosystems (such as Aderant, Elite, SurePoint, or comparable tools) paired with advanced Microsoft Excel capability.
Leadership Caliber:
Proven capability to manage, train, and elevate accounting professionals while effectively interfacing with equity partners and external auditors.
Geographic Proximity:
Must be locally based and within a sustainable, daily driving commute of the Long Island, NY office to seamlessly support the hybrid schedule (3 days on-site, 2 days remote).
