Job Description:
Our client, a premier $200M+ Social Services organizations in NYC, is seeking a Manager of Real Estate finance to run construction and asset management finance for a robust portfolio of affordable housing properties. This position brings together elements of real estate accounting, asset management, affiliate financial management, and portfolio strategy. Benefits 25+ PTO days + 12 holidays to start Strong 403B match Tuition reimbursement opportunities Great medical / dental / vision packages available Hybrid schedule into Manhattan (3 days in office) Responsibilities Provide strategic direction for accounting, financial reporting, and compliance across a diverse portfolio of housing and real estate entities, including 501c3, HDFC, LP, and LLC structures. Oversee the production of consolidated monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring the absolute accuracy of journal entries, reconciliations, and complex lease/loan schedules. Lead the coordination of external audits, tax filings, and lender/syndicator reporting while ensuring strict adherence to contractual and financing requirements throughout construction, development, and operational phases. Serve as a key financial advisor to the CFO and development leadership on project structuring, acquisitions, and refinancing, while supporting long-term capital planning initiatives. Manage asset functions including operating budgets, reserves, and insurance compliance, while acting as the primary liaison to third-party property firms to monitor and improve financial performance. Supervise and mentor finance staff while driving continuous improvement through internal control enhancements, financial system upgrades, and the maintenance of partnership/regulatory documentation. Qualifications BA of Accounting, Finance, or related field: CPA or higher education strongly preferred 5+ years of progressive real estate related accounting 2+ years of people management experience Experience with non-profit and affordable housing accounting structures (LIHTC, HDFC, LP, GP, LLC) Experience managing audits, consolidations, and tax compliance for complex entity structures
