Role:
Magna Capital Management is seeking an Associate to join its Development & Acquisitions team. This individual will support the evaluation, underwriting, due diligence, and execution of hotel acquisition and development opportunities. The Associate will play a meaningful role in originating, analyzing, and presenting new investment opportunities to the firm's investment committee. Working closely with Magna's broader teams, including operations, finance, design, construction, and asset management, this individual will help drive opportunities from initial review through execution. The ideal candidate is highly analytical, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple workstreams in a fast-paced environment. This role is well-suited for a candidate who can combine strong financial acumen with transaction execution skills and is eager to take on increasing responsibility over time. This role will require you to be in our Warwick, RI, corporate office daily.
Responsibilities:
Evaluate hotel acquisition, development, and repositioning opportunities across multiple business plans Build and maintain acquisition, development, and operating pro formas to support underwriting, business plan development, and investment decision-making Research markets, identify emerging trends, and synthesize data to inform investment strategy and opportunity evaluation Support sourcing and origination efforts by identifying prospective opportunities, maintaining broker relationships, and developing market intelligence Take an active role in shaping, evaluating, and presenting new acquisition and development opportunities to the firm's investment committee Help manage the diligence process for acquisitions and management transitions, coordinating inputs across internal teams and third-party consultants Work closely with internal teams, including operations, finance, design and construction, and asset management, to advance opportunities from initial review through execution Coordinate with external stakeholders, including brokers, consultants, lenders, attorneys, operators, and brand representatives, throughout the transaction process Support transaction execution, closing, and transition planning, while helping ensure continuity between underwriting assumptions and business plan implementation
Requirements:
Experience underwriting hospitality assets and/or other commercial real estate investments Strong understanding of hotel operating performance, market research, and supply and demand dynamics Exposure to hotel due diligence, management transitions, and development or repositioning projects Ability to combine rigorous quantitative analysis with practical transaction management Self-starter with strong judgment, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
