Job Description

Job Title:
Corporate Accounting Manager Job Description The Corporate Accounting Manager will oversee end-to-end payroll accounting operations, including reconciliations, accruals, and journal entries. This role ensures compliance with GAAP, payroll tax laws, and regulatory requirements while managing a team of payroll accounting professionals. The manager will also partner with HR, Finance, and external auditors to ensure accurate reporting and audit readiness, driving process improvements and efficiencies. Responsibilities Oversee end-to-end payroll accounting operations, including reconciliations, accruals, and journal entries. Ensure compliance with GAAP, payroll tax laws, and regulatory requirements. Manage and develop a team of payroll accounting professionals, providing leadership and guidance. Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes related to payroll. Partner with HR, Finance, and external auditors for accurate reporting and audit readiness. Drive process improvements, automation, and efficiencies within payroll and accounting workflows. Support and lead system implementations, upgrades, or process redesigns (e.g., UKG, ADP, Workday). Analyze payroll data to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement. Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance across multiple entities and jurisdictions. Essential Skills 8+ years of payroll or payroll accounting experience, including leadership experience. Strong knowledge of GAAP, payroll taxes, and compliance requirements. Experience with payroll systems such as UKG, ADP, or Workday. Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis). Proven experience in large, complex, or multi-entity environments. Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage deadlines, and drive process improvements. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. High level of discretion with confidential information. Additional Skills & Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field. Experience with system implementations or major process redesigns preferred. CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) or similar certification is a plus. Work Environment This position requires on-site work Monday through Friday. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Knoxville, TN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $58.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
