Job Description

Robert Half Management Resources is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Shared Services Leader for a high-volume, complex organization in the Memphis, TN area. This role oversees a large AP function and is responsible for driving operational excellence, compliance, and continuous improvement across a shared services environment.

Position OverviewThis leader will oversee a team of 20+ accounting professionals (including 2 supervisors) within a shared services structure. The role requires deep experience in accounts payable operations, process transformation, and large-scale transactional accounting environments, with a strong focus on efficiency, controls, and automation.

The ideal candidate brings a strong accounting foundation, proven leadership in high-volume AP environments, and experience driving ERP or process implementations in complex organizations.

Key ResponsibilitiesAP Shared Services LeadershipLead and manage a team of 20+ AP professionals, including supervisory staffEnsure timely, accurate, and compliant processing of all AP transactionsOversee complex, high-volume accounts payable operations and workflowsMaintain strong adherence to internal controls, SOX compliance, and company policiesMonitor KPIs and service levels to ensure operational excellenceProcess Improvement & TransformationPartner with shared services leadership to design and implement process improvements and automation initiativesReduce manual processes and improve end-to-end AP efficiencySupport and/or lead ERP or system implementation and enhancement projectsIdentify opportunities to streamline invoice processing, approvals, and payment cyclesStakeholder & Vendor ManagementCollaborate with procurement, operations, and purchasing teams to improve upstream processesWork closely with buyers and cross-functional leaders to resolve escalated issuesStrengthen supplier relationships and improve vendor experienceEnsure timely resolution of invoice and payment inquiriesLeadership & CultureBuild and sustain a high-performance, customer-focused AP team cultureDrive employee engagement, recognition, and retention strategiesProvide coaching, mentoring, and development opportunities for team membersFoster a continuous improvement mindset across the function
