We are seeking an experienced Manager to join our Investor Accounting team in Houston, TX. Reporting to the Director of Investor Accounting, this role combines hands-on technical execution with direct people management responsibilities, overseeing a team who supports our investor partners and cash management operations. About the Role The Investor Accounting Manager will oversee day-to-day operations related to the collection, movement, remittance, reporting, and reconciliation of cash transactions for our diverse investor portfolio. You'll manage a team of professionals while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across all investor accounting functions. This position requires both strong technical knowledge of mortgage servicing guidelines and the ability to develop talent while driving operational excellence. Key Responsibilities Team Leadership & Development Directly manage and mentor team members of varying experience levels, providing guidance on complex technical issues and career development Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback to drive individual and team performance Partner with the Director to develop and implement comprehensive training programs for new hires and continuous education for existing staff Build team capacity and foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement Train and manage staff responsible for bank account administration including opening and closing accounts as needed Investor Relations & Operational Excellence Oversee the generation and distribution of remittances and reporting packages for investors including Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae, Ginnie Mae, CMBS, life companies, and other institutional partners Serve as a primary point of contact for investor inquiries and escalations, ensuring timely and accurate responses Review and approve complex reconciliations and resolve escalated reporting issues Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop, maintain, and enhance policies and procedures for all investor accounting functions Review banking fees to identify any changes or trends and recommend areas where negotiation may result in reduced expenses Compliance & Risk Management Actively supports Director during audits by reviewing documentation gathered by the team and drafting responses. Assists with responses to audit findings, determining mediation and following-up for compliance. Ensure adherence to SOX controls, company policies, and investor requirements Monitor compliance with servicing guidelines and regulations for mortgage banking Identify and remediate control gaps or process weaknesses Process Improvement & Technology Identify opportunities for technology-driven solutions to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and scalability Lead the implementation of process improvements and system enhancements Oversee testing of system functionality and validation of software upgrades and reports Drive standardization and automation initiatives to create a scalable platform Strategic Support Develop and deliver management reports and analysis to support business decisions Support ad hoc projects and strategic initiatives as assigned by the Director Contribute to departmental planning and goal-setting Qualifications Required 6+ years of progressive experience in mortgage accounting or mortgage banking 2+ years of people management or supervisory experience Strong understanding of investor requirements for Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae, Ginnie Mae/HUD/FHA, CMBS, and life companies Solid working knowledge of CRE finance, servicing guidelines and regulations Familiarity with SOX compliance requirements and internal control frameworks Highly advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, macros, complex formulas, data analysis) Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail Preferred Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Real Estate, or related field Experience implementing technology solutions or optimizing servicing platforms Track record of successfully managing and developing high-performing teams Experience serving as liaison during audits or regulatory examinations What Sets You Apart Strong leadership presence with ability to motivate and develop diverse team members Proactive and solutions-oriented approach to challenges Excellent communication skills with ability to translate complex concepts for various audiences Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment Strategic thinker with strong business acumen and ability to see the bigger picture Demonstrated ability to drive change and implement process improvements This position does not provide visa sponsorship.
