Monday•Friday 7:45 am•4:30 pm
Rate of Pay:
$41.30 Under direction, the General Ledger Manager is responsible for performing administrative and supervisory work planning, organizing, and coordinating the activities of the General Ledger section within the Finance Department. This role ensures the accuracy of the City's financial records and oversees the month-end and year-end closing processes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Workflow Management:
Oversees and directs the day-to-day workflow distribution among General Ledger staff.
Closing Oversight:
Manages monthly and annual close processes in SAP; reviews and approves month-end and year-end journal entries.
Financial Integrity:
Reviews general ledger accounts to ensure posting accuracy, timeliness, and reconciliation; assists staff with account discrepancies to ensure proper accounting treatment.
Process Improvement:
Drives best practices for daily/weekly/monthly tasks, close procedures, and account reconciliation procedures.
Policy & Control:
Develops and maintains General Ledger policies; facilitates and oversees internal control procedures to ensure compliance with service level agreements ($SLAs$).
Audit Coordination:
Prepares and reviews comprehensive work papers for internal and external audits.
Technical Leadership:
Provides technical guidance and training to staff and other City departments; acts as a liaison between COSA departments and external contacts.
Personnel Management:
Interviews, selects, supervises, evaluates, and counsels personnel according to established City policies and guidelines.

Education and Experience:
Required:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university. Five (5) years of increasingly responsible accounting experience. Three (3) years of supervisory or lead work experience. Successful completion of a criminal history background check, education, and work history verification, and drug screening test.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of Governmental Accounting ($GASB$), auditing, and financial reporting. Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles ($GAAP$). Knowledge of ACFR (Annual Comprehensive Financial Report) and Single Audit Report preparation. Knowledge of banking, cash management, and municipal bond financing. Knowledge of automated procurement and ERP systems (SAP preferred).
Working Environment:
Work is performed primarily inside an office environment. Operating computer, manual dexterity, talking, hearing, and repetitive motion. Use of personal computer equipment, telephone, and multi-functioning printer.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
Ability to understand, remember, and apply complex instructions. Ability to operate a computer keyboard and other basic office equipment. Ability to provide professional leadership and direction to a professional accounting staff.
