Manager, Research Finance UT Health Science Center at San Antonio

EPIC EMR
Performs a detailed analysis of industry research and/or clinical trial accounts and performs audits on complex trials and closed accounts when in-depth evaluation is required. Develop and monitor quality and performance measures With the support of the Director, identify areas for improvement within the department and implement new processes, systems, and tools. Liaise with a broad spectrum of internal and external parties, including but not limited to clinical program leadership, investigators, clinical research coordinators, department research support staff, industry sponsors, and auditors/monitors. Manages assigned staff, including hiring, performance management, scheduling of work assignments, disciplinary actions, and career advancement. Encourages the professional development of staff. With the support of the Director, defines and communicates job descriptions, core competencies, and performance standards. Establishes accurate and consistent productivity expectations and revises as needed. Coordinates regular staff meetings to communicate departmental and organizational activities, goals and policies. Monitor the performance metrics for research business processes and maintain awareness of clinical research project financials. Performs all other duties as assigned. Qualifications Demonstrated knowledge of billing practices, institutional financial administration policies, procedures, and practices, institutional regulations, guidelines, policies, and procedures, as applicable. Substantial knowledge and understanding of research and/or clinical and billing regulations affecting clinical trials and medical research (e.g.NCD 310.1
). Intermediate Familiarity with all research administrative business processes for Industry Sponsored clinical research projects. Advanced Substantial knowledge of financial tracking systems including Accounting , EPIC Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Clinical Trial Management System (CTMS) applications. Advanced Strong financial acumen with the ability to analyze and interpret financial data. Knowledge of common business and cost drivers, and financial statement analysis within clinical research . Self-motivated problem solver with strong analytical skills Intermediate Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to effectively communicate key information with leadership, physicians, and other research staff . Ability to professionally handle matters of a sensitive nature with confidentiality. Advanced Microsoft Office skills with strong working knowledge of Excel.Demonstrated leadership ability:
Ability to effectively manage staff and motivate them to produce timely and competent work with minimal supervision. Ability to develop and implement processes to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in research financial operations.Excellent communication skills:
ability to communicate with executive-level staff and others in a clear and professional manner. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with personnel at all levels to gather information, communicate requirements, and handle complex issues. Must be flexible and adaptable. - A generous leave program offers multiple paid leave options:
Front-loaded Paid Time Off:
128 to 208 hours (16 to 26 days) of Paid Time Off based on years of service, given at the start of each fiscal year. PTO may be prorated in year one based on date of hire.Extended Illness Bank:
8 hours (1 day) accrued per month which can be used for illness or injury after one day of Paid Time Off is taken.Paid Family Leave:
Up to 240 hours (6 weeks) to care for a spouse, child, or parent after 6 months of consecutive employment.Holidays:
