Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to lead our finance team and oversee all aspects of financial management within our organization. This pivotal role involves ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining compliance with regulatory standards, and implementing robust accounting practices. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in corporate and governmental accounting, with experience in non-profit sectors, public accounting, and technical accounting standards. As an Accounting Manager, you will drive financial integrity, mentor team members, and contribute to strategic financial planning to support our mission-driven organization. Responsibilities Oversee the preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and ensure compliance with relevant regulations such as securities law and regulatory reporting requirements. Manage the general ledger accounting process, including journal entries, account reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation, and month-end closing procedures. Supervise accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring timely processing and accurate record-keeping. Conduct detailed financial analysis, cash flow analysis, and budget forecasting to inform organizational decision-making. Lead internal controls implementation and maintain SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) compliance to safeguard assets and ensure transparency. Oversee audit processes, coordinate with external auditors, and facilitate auditing activities to ensure accuracy and compliance. Mentor and develop finance team members by providing guidance on technical accounting issues such as Wills, trusts & estate law, securities law, governmental accounting standards, and non-profit accounting practices. Support tax experience requirements by managing tax filings and ensuring adherence to applicable tax laws. Utilize accounting software such as Sage, Xero, or other financial software platforms for efficient bookkeeping, bank reconciliation, account analysis, and financial report writing. Skills Extensive knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), technical accounting standards, and regulatory requirements including SOX compliance. Proficiency in accounting software such as Sage, Xero, or equivalent platforms; strong understanding of double entry bookkeeping principles. Experience with financial report interpretation, financial statement preparation, balance sheet reconciliation, and general ledger accounting. Strong analytical skills in financial analysis, forecasting, budgeting, cash flow management, and account reconciliation. Familiarity with non-profit accounting practices alongside corporate finance principles; experience in public accounting is a plus. Ability to mentor team members on complex topics like securities law or estate law while fostering a collaborative environment. Excellent communication skills for financial report writing and presenting insights to stakeholders at all levels. Knowledge of accounts payable/receivable processes, payroll management, regulatory reporting requirements, and auditing procedures.
