PRIME FUNCTION
Provides accounting and financial management to support the Center's mission.
CRITICAL ELEMENTS
Follows and implements the NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct in daily work. Develops and maintains excellent relationships with staff, ACCA and CDC board members, partners, funders, and vendors. Maintain accurate financial records in accordance with US generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and keep appropriate filing system. Responsible for all journal entries and reconcile all the general ledgers, bank accounts, credit cards and payroll. Responsible for maintaining charts of accounts, vendors, fixed assets schedule and preparing 1099s. Completes all actions and ensures monthly closings are timely, all other reports are prepared on schedule, and ensures timely, accurate financial reporting to management. Develops and recommends accounting policies and procedures and oversees compliance. Coordinates and administers internal control procedures and internal audits. Administers payroll and oversees benefits administration. Coordinates with and assists the Operations Manager and Human Resources staff on accounting related tasks. Reviews, recommends, and implements new software and services for accounting and payroll needs. Routinely identifies financial highlights, significant problems or trends and recommends corrective action to the Executive Director. Prepares and presents financial and budget reports to the Board of Directors of CDC and ACCA. Provides financial analysis and assists in the preparation of budgets. Oversees cash management, expense controls and reporting. Provides financial data for grants applications and tracks grants' financial requirements. Prepare and/or review financial documents for the annual audit and act as a liaison during audits. Maintains awareness of program implementation and analyzes financial implications as needed. Develops increased knowledge of all areas of accounting.
EXPERIENCE
Five or more years of accounting experience with BA/BS in Accounting required. Knowledge of
ABILA MIP
system required. CPA preferred. Experience in non-profit organization or major accounting services firm and excellent knowledge of accounting principles and practices. Financial reporting and budget planning required. Detail-oriented with very good communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills. Excellent PC, DBMS and accounting systems skills. Able to maintain confidentiality and work effectively with broad range of people. Bilingual preferred.
