Job Description

Ministry Purpose To support the mission and ministries of Epiphany Lutheran Church by accurately maintaining the finances, financial records, including designated accounts and operating budget. Key Responsibilities Financial Management
  • Work under the supervision of the Senior Pastor, closely with the Treasurer and, in certain circumstances, members of the Finance Team, and others responsible for financial matters in specific areas.
  • Utilize Realm or other church-oriented financial software, to oversee and perform the church's financial and business transactions including, but not limited to, accounting, bookkeeping, check-writing, financial record maintenance and financial reporting.
  • Assist in preparing the annual budget in conjunction with the Finance Team, other church committees, and the Congregation Council.
  • Monitor execution of budget to ensure adequate funds are available. . Church Records
  • Maintain pertinent congregational financial records, including serving as backup for Financial Secretary when needed.
  • Ensure that adequate property, casualty, and liability insurance is maintained and that claims are filed promptly and accurately.
  • Provide monthly statements of receipts, disbursements, assets, and liabilities to the Finance Team and Congregation Council.
  • Maintain acceptable accounting systems, controls, and audit procedures and serve as liaison with outside auditor. Coordinate benefits, health insurance, allowances, pensions, and salary disbursements for all staff as applicable and act as liaison with payroll service. Administration
  • Attend meetings as requested by the Finance Team, pastor(s), or Congregational Council or at Senior Pastor's discretion.
  • Accomplish other finance-related duties as requested by the Senior Pastor.
  • Report monthly to the Congregation via The Examiner (newsletter) on the status of actual expenses and contributions versus the approved budget. Skills and Experience
  • College Principles of Accounting I and II or 3-5years of experience in accounting and budgeting
  • Working knowledge of computers including Excel, and Word and ability to navigate the internet and online payment systems.
  • Knowledge of Realm church software (or an equivalent) a plus, especially finance module
Time Expectations:
12-15 hours per week
Compensation:
competitive salary Flexible schedule; 30 hours paid vacation
Pay:
$18,000.00 - $23,000.00 per year
