This role is essential in managing patient financial interactions, ensuring accurate medical billing, and facilitating smooth communication between patients, insurance providers, and healthcare staff. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in optimizing revenue cycle processes while providing compassionate support to patients navigating their financial responsibilities. Candidates with a strong background in medical coding, billing procedures, and familiarity with electronic health record systems will thrive in this position. Responsibilities The ER Financial Representative ensures reimbursement by managing up-front POS collections and establishing payment arrangements to prevent bad debt. After a medical screening exam is performed, they assist patients with insurance eligibility, benefits, and access to programs like Medi-Cal and Hospital Presumptive Eligibility (HPE), regardless of the patient's ability to pay. The role focuses on meeting registration KPIs and completing all necessary financial documentation prior to discharge, requiring ongoing training and certification to maintain expertise in diverse hospital financial programs.
Required Qualifications:
2+ yrs experience in front office/ medical billing and/ or current hospital registration/ admitting MUST have patient registration experience 2+ yrs experience in insurance verification and/or medical/hospital billing. Knowledge of eligibility requirements for Medi-Cal, Hospital Presumptive Eligibility Program, Medicare, Covered California, Cobra, limited benefit plans, VVC and Uncompensated Care Programs. IPA and EMTALA knowledge and experience Stringent adherence to all HIPAA laws Medical terminology Strong typing skills 45 and up wpm is required Evidence of continuing education in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration Bilingual Completes a minimum of 20 registrations but strives for up to 30+ registrations per 8 hr shift which includes scanning documents, insurance verification and securing upfront collections. Verifies patients are appropriately medically screened and stabilized before Consent of Admissions is signed/ discussed and or liability is requested.
MUST HAVE
2+ yrs of financial counseling experience in a hospital Understanding of MediCal, CCS, MyBCW 1+ years of medical billing in hospital 1+ years of patient registration/ admitting patient experience 1+ years Insurance Verification experience

Pay:
$20.00 - $23.00 per hour
