Patient Financial Clearance Specialist (Oncology)
Location:
Mountain View, CA (On-Site)
Pay Range:
$36.00 / hour
Duration:
3-Month Contract (strong potential for extension) The Impact As a Patient Financial Clearance Specialist, you are the vital bridge between complex oncology care and financial peace of mind. In this role, you don't just process bills-you own the critical end-to-end insurance verification, prior authorization, and financial clearance process for cancer patients. By mitigating financial risk and securing timely approvals, you directly ensure that life-saving oncology treatments are never delayed.
Minimum Qualifications Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of dedicated experience strictly focused on healthcare insurance verification, prior authorizations, and financial clearance.
Specialized Knowledge:
Proven, hands-on experience navigating complex Oncology/Cancer care medical policies, chemotherapies, and radiation authorizations (strictly required).
Financial & Analytical Acumen:
strong ability to interpret complex payor grids, analyze benefit data, and accurately calculate patient financial liabilities.
High-Touch Communication:
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to discuss complex financial matters with sensitivity, empathy, and professionalism.
Technical Proficiency:
Mastery of oncology-specific medical terminology, electronic health records (EHR/EMR), and the Microsoft Office Suite.

$35 - $36 per hourshift: Firstwork hours: 8 AM - 5

Own and execute the end-to-end financial clearance process for high-complexity therapeutic services, diagnostic imaging, and multi-phase oncology treatment plans.
Advanced Prior Authorizations:
Submit, track, and secure complex prior authorizations from commercial and government payors, proactively appealing denials to prevent delays in patient care.
Insurance Verification & Benefit Analysis:
Conduct rigorous verification of insurance benefits, analyzing payor-specific medical policies to accurately identify coverage limits and mitigate financial risk for both the patient and the facility.
Financial Counseling & Estimates:
Conduct empathetic, professional interviews with patients to collect demographic/clinical data and provide transparent, accurate estimates of patient liabilities and out-of-pocket responsibilities.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Partner closely with oncology physicians, nurse navigators, social workers, and pharmacy teams to align financial clearance timelines with clinical treatment schedules.
Data Integrity:
Maintain meticulous, audit-ready documentation of authorizations and benefit verification in compliance with hospital policies and healthcare regulations.
