Overview Newaygo Medical Care Facility is seeking a detail-oriented, experienced Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) Biller to join our team. This position plays a critical role in ensuring accurate and timely billing, reimbursement, and compliance with all applicable regulations. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility Business Office, and demonstrate strong knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid billing processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and submit claims for Medicare, Medicaid, and Managed Care payers, including Part A, Part B, and coinsurance.
- Prepare and distribute private pay statements.
- Post payments and process adjustments according to payer guidelines.
- Monitor accounts receivable, investigate and resolve any unpaid or denied claims, and manage appeals as necessary.
- Communicate with insurance companies, residents, and responsible parties regarding billing inquiries.
- Perform collections including phone, in person, and written communications.
- Assist with claim audits and secondary reviews.
- Monitor Level of Care Determinations (LOCDs) to ensure appropriate compliance to protect assurance of reimbursement.
- Issue and track Notices of Medicare Non-Coverage (NOMNCs) and Advance Beneficiary Notices (ABNs) in compliance with CMS guidelines.
- Work collaboratively with clinical and administrative staff to ensure accurate documentation and billing practices.
- Stay current with CMS regulations and payer requirements to ensure optimal reimbursement and compliance with current guidelines. Qualifications
- High school diploma required; associate's or bachelor's degree in accounting or related field preferred.
- Minimum 3-5 years of SNF Billing experience required.
- Knowledge of CMS guidelines for LOCD, NOMNC, and ABN.
- Demonstrated understanding of Medicare Part A & B, Medicaid, Managed Care, and Private insurance billing.
- Familiarity with SNF Consolidated Billing and PDPM reimbursement methodology
- Experience with EMR and SNF billing systems, such as Point Click Care and Waystar.
- Some understanding of ICD-10 coding preferred. Skills and Competencies
