The Court of Administrative Hearings seeks to hire an Accounting Officer Intermediate in our St. Paul office. CAH is the largest of three Executive Branch Courts with over 75 full-time employees located in St. Paul and Duluth. CAH hears cases for over 250 state agencies and local units of government in over 200 unique areas of administrative law and is Minnesota's workers' compensation trial court. CAH renders justice through fair, timely and impartial hearings and high-quality dispute resolution services. The Accounting Officer Intermediate provides professional accounting services to CAH and the Office of Appellate Counsel and Training (OACT). CAH agreed to provide accounting services to
OACT. OACT
was established during the 2023 legislative session of the Minnesota State Legislature. Core responsibilities of an accounting officer intermediate include: + Administering, managing, and auditing accounts receivable transactions. + Overseeing accounts payable transactions. + Managing contracts and purchasing. + Managing the payroll and business expense process.
- Minimum Qualifications

Two (2) years of professional accounting and/or financial management experience that includes the following: + Experience applying financial policies, procedures, and principals including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and general auditing procedures. + Experience completing accounting transactions in an accounting/financial system. + Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills to resolve complex financial discrepancies. + Ability to analyze, reconcile, and interpret financial data and create financial reports. + Ability to establish positive working relationships and work collaboratively with leadership and colleagues, and vendors/external partners.
- A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field may substitute for one (1) year of experience.
OR Three (3) years of administrative support experience in the area of accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, or cash reconciliation that demonstrates the following: + Experience entering information into various financial systems and applications, databases, and spreadsheets. + Experience supporting the development and implementation of fiscal procedures. + Experience entering and creating fiscal data, reports, and records. + Experience with account reconciliation and resolving variances or discrepancies.
- A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field may substitute for one (1) year of experience.
- Preferred Qualifications
- + Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
+ Knowledge of statewide accounting systems/databases such as
SEMA4/SWIFT.
+ Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and coordinate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Physical Requirements
- This is a sedentary position. Requires occasionally moving and transporting such articles as file folders and laptops or accounting boxes. May need to maintain a stationary position for long periods of time while carrying out job duties.
