Job Description

Hiring Department The Institute for Human Development (IHD) at the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC). Job Description The Financial Operations & Reporting Associate supports daily financial operations, purchasing, and reporting for the Institute for Human Development. This role works closely with the Director of Operations and other team members to help maintain accurate financial records, process transactions, and support budgeting and reporting activities. The Associate helps ensure processes are followed, assists with resolving issues, and contributes to maintaining organized and efficient financial operations. Key Responsibilities Process purchasing, invoicing, collections, and other financial transactions while ensuring accuracy and following established procedures Assist with preparing budget reports, including tracking expenses, identifying variances, and supporting basic forecasting Coordinate vendor payments and work with Accounts Payable to resolve payment issues Enter and review payroll adjustments, journal entries, and funding updates in PeopleSoft Support procurement activities using the university e-procurement system Create and track purchase orders and help manage requisitions Review financial data to identify inconsistencies or issues and escalate as needed Follow university policies, grant guidelines, and financial procedures Assist with maintaining and updating standard operating procedures Provide support to program staff on routine financial and operational questions Assist with projects related to improving financial processes and systems Help gather and organize data for reporting and program needs Monitor collections and follow up on outstanding items Work with team members to improve workflows and maintain accurate records Support audit preparation by organizing documentation and responding to requests Other duties as assigned.
NOTE :
This position is 100% grant funded and contingent on continued funding. Minimum Qualifications A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary. Preferred Qualifications Strongly Preferred Qualifications Basic knowledge of accounting, financial reporting, or financial processes Experience with PeopleSoft or a similar system preferred Understanding of purchasing processes and financial procedures Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established processes Good organizational and problem-solving skills Clear written and verbal communication skills Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines Preferred Qualifications Experience in a university, nonprofit, or public sector environment Familiarity with e-procurement systems or expense management tools Exposure to budgeting or basic financial reporting Experience supporting grant-funded programs Anticipated Hiring Range The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as up to $28.85 per hour. Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
