Budget Specialist 10747 Our client, located in East Richardson, is looking for a Budget Specialist to join their team on a contract-to-hire basis. This role is hybrid, with 2 days remote and 3 days onsite per week .Summary:
The Budget Specialist supports districtwide financial operations by executing, monitoring, and maintaining budgets across campuses and departments. This role focuses on accurate budget processing, compliance with TEA and charter finance requirements, high-quality campus support, and administration and reconciliation of district credit card (P-Card) activity.Duties & Responsibilities:
Process budget amendments, transfers, and adjustments Ensure proper account coding (fund, function, object, organization, PIC, local codes) Maintain accurate budget records in the financial management system Assist with monthly budget-to-actual reviews and variance identification Prepare routine budget reports and summaries Reconcile district and campus credit card (P-Card) transactions monthly Ensure all credit card charges are documented, coded correctly, and policy compliant Follow up with cardholders on missing documentation or discrepancies Maintain audit-ready documentation for all budget and P-Card activity Ensure compliance with TEA FASRG and district fiscal policies Serve as a primary contact for campus budget and P-Card questions Provide guidance on purchasing, reconciliation timelines, and documentation standards Support audits, TEA submissions, and internal reviews Assist with special projects and process improvements as assignedQualifications:
Education:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field (required)Experience:
2-4 years of budgeting, accounting, or finance operations experience Public education, governmental accounting, or charter school experience preferredKnowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Working knowledge of TEA FASRG and school finance Strong attention to detail and accuracy Proficiency in Skyward Financial Management and Excel Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines Strong customer service and communication skillsSimilar remote jobs
