Job Description

Introduction The Department of Corrections is focused on public safety through the custody and supervision of those in our care. The Department of Corrections is currently recruiting to fill a Financial Specialist - Senior position. This position is based out of Stanley Correctional Institution in Stanley, WI (Chippewa County). Position Summary This position is responsible for processing a varied and complex collection and disbursement operation. This position requires a range of business and accounting services knowledge in auditing, interpreting and providing highly complex levels of oversight and review for fiscal related legal documents, Wisconsin Judgment of Convictions (JOC's), Income Assignments and Child Support Court orders. This position is responsible for processing a wide variety of complex fiscal documents and accounts receivable. The position also performs procurement per the State Procurement Manual in accordance to Administrative Services Manual (ASM) and State Purchasing-General guidelines. This position maintains a working knowledge of the DOC accounting structure to audit and review complex financial account data and analysis. This position is responsible for communication with the court system. Additional duties include monitoring and managing legal loans, reviewing and entering assessment reports and civil judgments, and making necessary adjustments in the current financial system. Salary Information This position is in pay schedule and range 02-13 with a starting pay of $26.08/hour . Pay will be set in accordance with the Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code in effect at the time of hire. A probationary period is required. The opportunity for remote work will depend on the needs and policies of the work unit at the time. Any remote work must be performed from Wisconsin. This position is FLSA Non-Exempt. Anticipated schedule will be Monday - Friday 7:45 AM - 4:30 PM. This position is not anticipated to travel on a regular basis, but most DOC positions occasionally travel for training, meetings, conferences, or similar events. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e., a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application.
