Job Description

An established professional services organization is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to lead accounting and financial operations. This opportunity arises from a planned retirement, allowing for a structured transition period and knowledge transfer from the departing financial leader. This is a true Controller position focused on accounting leadership, financial operations, compliance, reporting, payroll administration, banking relationships, and day-to-day financial management. The role is not designed as a CFO-level strategic finance position. What You'll Do Oversee all day-to-day financial operations Manage trust accounting and compliance requirements Supervise two direct reports Process payroll and coordinate related reporting Administer retirement plan contributions and reporting Review client invoicing and billing arrangements Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable activities Reconcile multiple bank accounts and oversee deposits Prepare financial reports for leadership Coordinate annual audits and insurance-related reviews Work directly with outside accounting professionals on year-end matters Review and approve payments, checks, and wire transfers Support employee benefits administration and enrollments Identify operational improvements and technology enhancements Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred 7+ years of accounting and financial operations experience preferred Prior leadership or supervisory experience required Experience with payroll administration required Advanced Excel skills required Strong financial judgment and decision-making ability Ability to manage confidential financial information with discretion Professional services experience preferred Trust accounting experience is highly preferred Experience with legal accounting software is a plus Work Environment The organization offers a collaborative, team-oriented culture with long employee tenure and strong professional relationships.
