Through our Church, Community Center, Supportive Housing, and Survivor Housing programs, Open Door works to create a place where every person can live, thrive, and belong. About the Role Open Door is hiring a Program Finance Specialist to support the financial systems behind our housing and outreach programs. This is a detail-oriented finance role focused on bookkeeping, grant documentation, payment tracking, budget monitoring, and financial compliance. The Program Finance Specialist will work under the direction of the Finance Manager and will help ensure that program expenses are accurately documented, properly coded, timely processed, and aligned with grant requirements. This role will primarily support HUD-funded housing and outreach grants, including work related to leasing, rental assistance, supportive services, street outreach, HMIS-related costs, operating costs, and other approved grant activities. This is a strong fit for someone who enjoys accuracy, organization, accounting, and mission-driven nonprofit work. What You'll Do The Program Finance Specialist will: Support bookkeeping and financial tracking in QuickBooks Online and related systems. Help code expenses by grant, project, department, funding source, and eligible cost category. Maintain organized backup documentation for grant expenses, payments, draws, reporting, and monitoring. Prepare HUD grant draw documentation. Track eligible costs, match, and other grant-related financial requirements. Prepare monthly budget-to-actual reports and spending projections. Help identify when grant line items may be at risk of underspending, overspending, or needing amendment. Maintain landlord and vendor records, W-9s, payment information, rent ledgers, utility payment records, and recurring payment tracking systems. Help ensure rent, utility, vendor, landlord, and participant-related payments are tracked accurately and processed in a timely manner. Review expenses for eligibility and accuracy. Serve as a central resource and standard-setter for HUD-related financial documentation. Support program staff in understanding financial documentation, eligible costs, and grant compliance expectations. Support grant monitoring, audits, internal reviews, and funder documentation requests. Handle participant, financial, vendor, banking, employee, donor, and grant information with confidentiality and care. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. At least one year of experience in bookkeeping, accounting support, finance administration, grant administration, or a closely related administrative finance role. Experience using accounting, spreadsheet, database, or financial tracking systems. Valid driver's license required. Preferred Qualifications Associate's or bachelor's degree in accounting, business, nonprofit administration, public administration, or a related field. Experience with QuickBooks Online or a comparable accounting system. Experience with nonprofit finance, grant-funded programs, reimbursement-based grants, or restricted funding. Experience with HUD-funded programs or similar grant systems. Intermediate or advanced spreadsheet skills. Schedule and Work Location This is a full-time, salaried position based primarily at Open Door's administrative office at 1918 13th St, Lubbock, TX 79401 . The regular schedule is generally Monday-Friday, with a minimum 37.5-hour full-time work week. Some flexibility may be available based on organizational needs and supervisor approval. The role may require occasional local travel for meetings, banking tasks, trainings, or other role-related duties. Compensation The salary range for this position is $49,000-$55,000 annually , depending on experience and qualifications, plus generous benefits.
