EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
: High School Diploma or Equivalent Seven years related bookkeeping experience High School Diplomas and college/university degrees must be obtained from an accredited program or university approved by the United States Department of Education and the Texas Education Agency.
PRIMARY PURPOSE SUMMARY
: Provides mentorship and guidance to campus bookkeepers ensuring District policies, procedures and best practices are followed. Provides coverage for the campuses by providing campus-level bookkeeping functions during staff vacancies or leaves of absences. Supports the Office of Budgets & Financial Analysis with projects related to campus accounting and transaction management.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Functions as a mentor to campus bookkeepers when issues are identified by central office or campus administration. 2. Educates campus bookkeepers on District "best practice" policies and procedures. 3. Instructs bookkeepers and sponsors about District policies and procedures including, but not limited to, purchasing guideline, Student Activity and Campus Activity Funds (SAF/CAF), navigating Employee Portal, Lawson Employee Self Service, Outlook, Teacher Supply Reimbursement, Travel Request and Reimbursement and P-Card usage. 4. Assists with monthly bookkeeper meetings, including set up, notifications, agenda and attendance. 5. Assists with monitoring the NEISD Budget email. 6. Downloads daily reports written to Wells Fargo for Positive Pay monitoring. 7. Records all returned checks & deposits from the District check collection service. 8. Records transfers between accounts for individual campuses and records transfers between campuses. 9. Works closely with Central Office Procurement & eCommerce and Accounting Departments. 10. Seamlessly moves between multiple campus environments. 11. While substituting as a campus bookkeeper, accomplishes all normal campus bookkeeping responsibilities and manages all aspects of (SAF/CAF) accounts to include preparing deposits and processing checks. 12. Maintains confidentiality of information. 13. Reports to work on time every day. 14. Performs all duties and responsibilities as may be assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
• Knowledge of accounting principles and practices Ability to adapt to different physical locations, administrators and account sponsors Ability to work with numbers in an accurate and rapid manner to meet established deadlines Proficient in the use of various computer hardware and software systems, including Microsoft products such as Word and Excel Ability to use Lawson Enterprise Resource Planning software Ability to assist in training new bookkeepers Valid Texas Driver's license with driving record that meets the requirements of the District
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock.
