Job Description

Summary:
A hedge fund in NY is seeking a highly analytical Desk Strategist to join a leading research team focused on mortgage and consumer credit markets. This role sits at the intersection of research and portfolio management, providing quantitative insights that shape trading strategies and risk decisions. As part of a dynamic front-office environment, you'll develop models, analyze sector trends, and deliver actionable recommendations to senior stakeholders. Key Responsibilities:
Perform comprehensive research and deliver analysis on agency/non-agency mortgage products and home equity loans Design, enhance, and validate predictive models to assess performance and risk across diverse scenarios. Partner closely with portfolio managers and research teams to ensure modeling insights directly inform investment strategies. Establish and optimize data workflows , including management, monitoring, and quality control of internal and external datasets. Generate quantitative insights that support pricing, hedging, and portfolio risk management initiatives.
Job Requirements:
1-5 years of experience in mortgage research, mortgage analytics, etc. Strong understanding of agency/non-agency mortgage products and structured credit [ resi whole loans, non QM, etc] Advanced proficiency in Python and SQL Bachelor's or advanced degree in a quantitative field
Preferred Skills:
Experience in financial modeling and statistical techniques (e.g., regression, time-series analysis) Experience in a buy-side or sell-side research environment Familiarity with structured credit analytics and risk modeling tools Ability to communicate technical insights effectively to non-technical audiences
