Investment Associate - Private Equity The Opportunity Our client, a New York based private equity firm with approximately $1.7 billion in assets under management, is seeking to add an Investment Associate to its growing investment team. The firm pursues control-oriented buyout and growth investments in the lower middle market, with a primary focus on healthcare, business services, and industrials. This role offers broad exposure across the investment process and meaningful responsibility within a lean, hands-on team. The Associate will function as a generalist, working closely with senior investment professionals on new deals, portfolio company initiatives, and investor-facing activities. Responsibilities Perform detailed financial analysis and modeling, including LBO and operating models Conduct industry research, market analysis, and commercial diligence to assess new investment opportunities Support deal execution across all stages: Diligence coordination Valuation and structuring analysis Interaction with legal, accounting, and advisory partners Prepare materials for internal investment committee discussions and external presentations Assist with portfolio company monitoring, strategic initiatives, and add-on acquisition analysis Collaborate with senior team members throughout the life of investments Support limited partner reporting and fundraising-related initiatives on an as-needed basis Utilize AI-enabled tools and analytical platforms to enhance efficiency and insight Background & Qualifications 2-3 years of experience in investment banking or private equity Strong preference for candidates with exposure to: Healthcare, business services, industrials, or consumer sectors Bulge bracket, middle market, or elite boutique banks Bachelor's degree required Strong technical foundation in financial modeling, valuation, and deal analysis Interest in lower middle market investing, including founder-owned, family-owned, and carve-out transactions Excellent communication skills and comfort working in a small team environment Self-starter with strong attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities
