Job Description

Position Overview An organization is seeking a highly motivated accounting professional to lead its SEC reporting function and support technical accounting initiatives. This role is responsible for managing the end-to-end process for external financial filings, maintaining compliance with U.S. GAAP and SEC regulations, and strengthening the control environment. This position reports to senior accounting leadership and works cross-functionally with finance, audit, and operational teams. Core Responsibilities Lead the preparation and review of SEC filings, including Form 10-K and Form 10-Q, ensuring accuracy of financial statements, footnotes, MD&A, and required disclosures. Coordinate the quarterly and annual reporting cycle, partnering with FP&A, investor relations, and business unit finance teams to compile and validate information for external filings. Act as the internal expert on SEC reporting requirements and FASB disclosure guidance, monitoring regulatory changes and assessing impact on filings. Manage the iXBRL tagging process and reporting tools used in filing submissions. Support and maintain compliance with SOX controls related to financial reporting, including documentation, testing, and process improvements. Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audit procedures related to SEC filings. Oversee and refine accounting policies and technical position papers, including research on complex or non-standard transactions. Manage accounting for complex areas such as stock-based compensation, equity transactions, EPS calculations, and goodwill assessments. Partner with corporate accounting and business teams to evaluate unusual transactions and ensure appropriate financial statement treatment. Lead or contribute to special projects, including system implementations or process enhancements. Supervise and mentor team members, providing guidance on SEC reporting processes and technical accounting topics. Assist with evolving ESG and climate-related reporting requirements, including development of disclosures and implementation of related controls aligned with SOX-like frameworks. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master's degree preferred). Approximately 6+ years of experience in SEC reporting, public accounting, or corporate accounting. Active CPA license required. Strong experience managing 10-K and 10-Q filings, including preparation of financial statements, footnotes, and MD&A in accordance with U.S. GAAP and SEC regulations. Familiarity with Workiva or similar reporting tools, including iXBRL tagging. In-depth knowledge of technical accounting areas, including equity, stock-based compensation, EPS, and goodwill. Experience supporting or leading SOX compliance processes, specifically related to financial reporting controls. Proven ability to manage timelines, coordinate stakeholders, and lead reporting cycles efficiently. Strong communication and leadership skills, with experience guiding teams and collaborating cross-functionally. Exposure to sustainability or climate-related reporting initiatives is a plus
