Job Description

PRIMARY PURPOSE
Provides customer service to the public and Camino Real Regional Utility Authority (CRRUA) employees. Performs cashier functions and clerical duties.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To perform this job successfully, individual must be able to perform each essential functions satisfactorily. Customer Service Greet customers, answer incoming calls, and provide information or direct inquiries to the appropriate department. Access and review customer accounts to provide accurate information. Accept utility payments and post transactions to customer accounts using a computerized accounting system. 2. Mail Processing Receive, open, and distribute departmental mail. Record check and money order numbers on payment stubs. Post mailed payments to customer accounts. Reconcile checks and payment stubs to prepare daily balances and deposits. Return payments with incomplete or incorrect information, including a written explanation. 3. Account Management Open and close utility service accounts. Create work orders for new and existing customers. Process applications for new services and provide information on available assistance programs or grants. Complete name change requests. Establish payment arrangements for past-due accounts. Gather required information to close accounts and notify customers of final billing. Enter customer meter readings into the system. 4. Records Management Create and maintain accurate files, including applications, grant forms, name change forms, and payment agreements. File correspondence and documentation related to customer accounts. Maintain organized and up-to-date records in accordance with department procedures.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of general office practices and procedures, including recordkeeping and basic accounting principles. Proficiency in business English, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and basic arithmetic. Ability to operate computers and relevant software systems. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion. Strong customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships. Dependability, punctuality, and consistent attendance are essential. Knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal regulations relevant to assigned duties. Recurring assignments are performed independently without specific instruction. Unusual issues or deviations from standard procedures are referred to the supervisor.
Guidelines and Judgment:
Work is performed in accordance with established policies and procedures. Deviations require supervisory approval.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
AND TRAINING A.
High school diploma or equivalent required. B. Two (2) years of full-time experience in administrative support, customer service, or cash handling. C. Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is required. D. Must successfully pass a background check.
ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL FACTORS
Work Environment:
Work is performed in a typical office setting with adequate lighting, heating, and ventilation. The position involves routine risks that require standard safety precautions.
Physical Requirements:
Work is primarily sedentary, requiring prolonged sitting. Occasional walking, standing, bending, and lifting of light items may be required. Frequent use of a computer, including keyboarding and mouse operation. Visual acuity is required for computer work and handling financial transactions.

$15.96 - $21.61 per hour
